Alper İŞLEYEN (Head of Laboratory)
Alper İşleyen graduated in 1998 from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Arts & Sciences Faculty, Department of Chemistry. In the same year, he started his M.Sc. studies at the METU Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences and completed his thesis entitled “Boron Trifluoride Catalyzed Addition of Nucleophiles to Endo/Exo-2-Substituted Norbornene Derivatives” in 2001. In the same year and in the same department, he started his Ph.D. studies under supervision of Prof. Dr. Özdemir DOĞAN and completed his thesis on“One-Pot Synthesis of 3-Chloro-3-arylpropanols and Application of ferrocenyl substituted aziridinylmethanols (FAM) as chiral ligands in enantioselective conjugate addition of diethylzinc to enones” in 2007. In between 1998 and 2005, he worked as a teaching and research assistant in METU, Arts &Sciences Faculty, Department of Chemistry and as a postdoctoral research associate in 2008 at the Washington State University, Department of Chemistry (USA). In 2009, he completed his military service duty as a chemical analysis specialist in Turkish Armed Forces Food Quality Control Laboratory (Istanbul). In 2010, he started working as a senior research scientist in the TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Group Laboratories. In 2012, at the EC JRC IRMM, he was trained and conducted studies on reference material production and certification. His studies are focused on two fields which are the production and certification of reference materials and elemental speciation of organic and inorganic compounds in biological matrices. Dr. Alper İşleyen’s 6 original research articles and 1 review article have been published in the international journals. He is also the coauthor of 1 CRM certificate report.
Kevser TOPAL graduated from thje Middle East Technical University in 1995. She received her M.Sc degree from Abant İzzet Baysal University (AIBU) and Ph. D. degree from Boğaziçi University, Arts and Science Faculty, Chemistry Department. She worked as a teaching assistant at AIBU (1995-1999) and at Boğaziçi University (2000-2006). She started working at TÜBİTAK UME in 2006 as a researcher in the National Marker Project. She was involved in several national and international projects at the Organic Chemistry Laboratory, including the first certified reference material production and certification projects as a project manager and researcher. She has experience on purity assessment. Additionally, she worked on setting up the quality system (ISO Guide 30-35) at TÜBİTAK UME. She is a trainer on “Method Validation” organized at TÜBİTAK UME. She is also a trainer for the TrainMiC Project.
Ali Enis SADAK
Ali Enis Sadak graduated from Ataturk University, Department of Chemistry in 2006. He completed his post-graduate at Ataturk University, Department of Chemistry in 2009. He started his Ph.D. studies at the same university’s Department of Chemistry in 2009. Since, 2011, he has been working at the TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Group - Organic Chemistry Laboratory as a researcher. He is involved in CAP-SRM, UME 1303, UME 1306 and UME 1307 certificated reference material production projects, and has been conducting total syntheses of substances Aflatoxin B2 and Aflatoxin G2 as part of the project on a dried fig reference material and its certification. Moreover, he has been involved in the project for National Marker System Development and Continuous Updating for Fuels as a researcher since 2011.
Burcu Binici obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Kocaeli University’s Faculty of Engineering, Chemical Engineering Department in 2004 and 2008, respectively. She received her Ph. D. degree from Yildiz Technical University Department of Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry Division in 2014. Her thesis focused on the determination PBDEs and PBBs in plastic by GC-IDMS. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Southern Mississippi, USA (2004-2005). Then, she joined the National Marker Project at the TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Group Laboratories as a researcher in 2006. She worked in projects funded within the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) and carried out international comparisons regarding the development and method validation for determination of organic compounds as PAH, pesticide and PBDE in food and environment. Additionally, she worked as a researcher at the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) for one year to obtain experience on production of certified reference material within the Europe & Metrology in Turkey (EMIT) Project. She set up a quality system in accordance with ISO Guide 34 at TÜBİTAK UME. She has been trainer for the courses “Uncertainty Calculations in Chemical Measurements” and “Training in Metrology in Chemistry (TrainMic)” for 7 years. She has scientific publications in international scientific journals.
Fatma Akçadağ graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering of Ankara University in 1988. She received a M.Sc. degree in 1992 and a PhD degree in 1997 from the same university and department. She worked as a research assistant between 1989 and 1997 in the Department of Chemistry of Ankara University and as an R&D Engineer between 1997 and 1998 at Super Film Industry and Trade Inc. She has been working at TÜBİTAK UME as a senior researcher since 1998.
Hatice Altuntaş graduated from Mersin University, Vocational College, Department of Chemistry in 2002. She worked at Duratek Company as a quality controller between 2002 and 2003. In 2003, she had training on plastics, pigments, masterbatches and plastic additives at the Tosaf Plastic Company in Israel. Then, she worked at the Tosaf Plastic Company (Turkey) R&D Department as a color expert between 2003 and 2006. She started working at TÜBİTAK UME in May 2006 as a technician in the National Marker Project. Since 2006, she has been working at the TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Group Laboratories as an expert technician.
Murat Tunç graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry in 2003. He was completed his Master’s degree at the same university’s Department of Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry Division in 2006. During his studies, he worked at İncekara Holding and Centro Laboratories. Then, he worked at MNT Istanbul Laboratories as the manager of the instrumental analysis laboratory.
He started to work in TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Group Laboratories in 2010 as a researcher. He has participated in national and international research and development projects as a researcher. He has also been involved in the preparation and implentation of EU-funded projects. He has participated in the international key and pilot comparison studies and contributed to increasing the measurement capability of TÜBİTAK UME. In addition, he ha served in the organization of proficiency testing and data evaluation studies.
Seda Damla HATİPOĞLU
Seda Damla Hatipoğlu graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemistry in 2007. She received her Master of Science degree from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Chemistry in 2010, and has been continuing her Ph.D. studies at the same university. In 2012, she started working in the TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Organic Chemistry Laboratory as a researcher. She has participated in application of method validation, certified reference material production, LC-MS/MS and HPLC analyses. Additionally, she has been conducting calibration and testing services for industry, analyses of fuel samples related with the National Marker Project.
