Dr. Baki KARABÖCE (Head of Laboratory)

Dr. Baki Karaböce graduated from the Middle East Technical University Department of Physics in 1992. He earned his MSc. degree from Marmara University, Institute of Science in 1997, his PhD from Yeditepe University in Department of Physics in 2015. He has more than 70 publications in the field of acoustics, vibration, ultrasound and gravimetry. He is the founder, chief researcher and the head of the Medical Metrology Laboratory at TÜBİTAK UME.  Also, he is a member of IEC TC 87 Ultrasonic, EURAMET Task Group Health, EURAMET Ultrasound and Underwater Acoustics Subcommitee and BIPM CCM He has served as the lead TUBITAK UME researcher in three seperate EURAMET projects.

He was once the President and a Board member of the Turkish Acoustical Society. He has been in the scientific committee and organisation committees of Inter-Noise 2007 Istanbul Congress, the IEEE International symposium - MeMeA 2015 congress and several National Acoustics Congresses.


Hüseyin Okan DURMUŞ

Hüseyin Okan Durmuş graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Physics in 1995. He earned his MSc. degree on Biophysics from the same university, with a joint programme of Biology and Physics Departments, Institute of Science in 1998.  He had also worked as a specialist at Ergonomics/Human Factors Engineering laboratory in Industrial Engineering Department of METU between the years of 1995 and 2000. Later, he joined the private sector and worked on the system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO / TS 16949, SA 8000 Social Accountability/Social Compliance, Organic Certification and ISM systems for the maritime industry. Hüseyin Okan Durmuş has started the task in TÜBİTAK UME as a senior researcher in 2014 and has participated in the Medical Metrology Laboratory founded newly at the end of the year 2014.  He is currently the deputy of Medical Metrology Laboratory.

He has various national and international publications and papers in the field of biophysics.



Emel Çetin graduated from Marmara University, Department of Physics in 2008. She had her MSc. degrees from Istanbul University, Institute of Science in 2009; Istanbul Technical University, Institute of Energy in 2011 and Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Institute of Health Sciences in 2014. She is a PhD student at  Biophysics Department in Marmara University.

She worked as a Research Assistant in Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Medicine Biophysics Department between the years 2011-2014 and in Marmara University, Faculty of Medicine Biophysics Department between the years 2014-2015. She has done researches as a visiting researcher on the determination of mechanical properties of DNA and RNA molecules with “Optical Tweezers” in “Ecole Superieure de Physique et Chimie Industrielles-ESPCI Paris Tech. Nanobiophysique Labotaroire” in 2014. She has been working as a Senior Researcher in TUBITAK UME Medical Metrology Lab.



Mithat Özdingiş graduated from Electronic Communication Technology Department of Akdeniz University in 2002 and earned his B.S. degree on computer engineering from Ahmet Yesevi International Turkish-Kazakh University as a honor student in 2008.

He worked as electronic security and alarm systems technician before TÜBİTAK UME. He worked at TÜBİTAK UME DC Resistance Laboratory between the years of 2004 and 2012.

He has been working on the establishment of primary and secondary level measurement systems, maintenance and repair, calibration, testing operations and international comparisons for different calibration laboratories. He has knowledge of all types of programming languages. He has contributed to remote control and electronic circuit design in different projects as a technician.

He worked on RF power measurements in RF & Microwave Laboratory in between 2012 and 2015. He has developed an automatic control software for the primary and secondary level power measurement systems for national and international costumers.
