Seminar from TÜBİTAK UME to MoNE on Changes in the International System of Units (SI)

TÜBİTAK UME gave an online seminar on the revision of the International System of Units (SI) adopted at the 26th International General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) to the staff of the Board of Education on August 10, 2022.

On August 10, 2022, TÜBİTAK UME gave an online seminar to the staff of the Presidency of the Board of Education about the changes in the definitions of the basic units of kilogram, ampere, kelvin and mole in the revised SI, which was adopted at the 26th International General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) on November 6, 2018 and entered into force on May 20, 2019, and the spelling rules of SI unit names and symbols.

The online seminar titled "TÜBİTAK UME, International System of Units (SI) and Definition Changes" was given by Mehmet Salih CANBAL, Head of Textbooks and Instructional Materials Department, Ministry of National Education, Board of Education and Board of Education and an audience of 45 people consisting of teachers and experts from the Board of Education and Board of Education.

In the seminar, TUBITAK UME Acting Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ gave comprehensive information about the Institute and its working areas. Saliha TURHAN, Deputy Quality Management Representative, talked about the definition changes in SI basic units and the spelling rules of SI units and symbols.

At the end of the seminar, Mehmet Salih CANBAL, Head of the Department of Textbooks and Instructional Materials, emphasized the importance of the timing of the presentation and stated that attention will be paid to the definition changes made in SI units in the textbook reviews.
