Pressure Laboratory
About Us
It is the creation, realization and maintenance of the pressure scale in our country using the national pressure standard devices in the laboratory and the distribution of metrological traceability in the field of pressure to the relevant laboratories in the country.
Fields of Activity
The Pressure Laboratory operates in the field of pressure metrology under the field of mass and derived quantities and has a total of 10 measurement ranges in the pressure measurement range of 20 Pa to 500 MPa, registered in the international calibration measurement capabilities database (BIPM/CMC). In these measurement ranges, it experimentally creates and maintains the pressure scale within the country and realizes the distribution of metrological traceability in the field of pressure within the country. It organizes inter-laboratory comparison measurements in pressure measurements in the national and international arena and participates in such comparisons with the national metrology institutes of other countries, ensuring the equivalence of the measurements made in our country to the measurements made in other countries of the world. Carries out research and development projects in the field of pressure metrology. It establishes turnkey laboratories and integrates these laboratories into the international metrology system. It takes part in international cooperation activities on pressure metrology. It is involved in peer review of metrology laboratories of other countries and providing technical support for the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) in the field of pressure measurement size. It carries out activities such as conducting scientific publication activities and preparing guidance documents in the field of pressure measurements. It participates in the activities of international institutions and organizations, technical committees and advisory committees in the field of pressure metrology and represents our country in these activities. Calibration and testing services, training and consultancy services are provided according to internationally accepted guidance documents and methods in the field of pressure.
In the Pressure Laboratory, absolute and relative pressure measurements are performed in hydraulic and pneumatic pressure environments. Pressure measurements are carried out in pneumatic (nitrogen or air-powered) systems using 20 piston pressure standards (pressure balance) available in the laboratory, in the range of 20 Pa - 100 MPa, with an uncertainty value of approximately (25-44) ppm. Hydraulic pressure measurements are carried out using 15 piston pressure standards (pressure balance) in the range of (0.8 - 500) MPa with an uncertainty value of approximately (49-110) ppm.
In the Pressure Laboratory, piston pressure standards (pressure balance), also known as primary level pressure measuring instruments, are used as reference instruments and systems. With more than 44 reference devices and systems, the Pressure Laboratory is among the laboratories equipped with high-tech devices and systems in its field. In addition, considering the uncertainty of the test device to be calibrated, high accuracy pressure calibrators are also used in calibrations.
