About Us

Impedance Laboratories carry out studies in the field of DC and low frequency impedance measurements.

Areas of Activity and Services

The laboratory consists of two sub-laboratories, DC Resistance and Capacitance Laboratory. The services and working areas provided by the laboratories are summarized below.

DC Resistance Laboratory

DC resistance, DC current, AC conductivity measurements are performed in the laboratory. Obtaining these units at primary level and participating in comparisons with other metrology institutes for the integration of the values obtained into the international system are among the main tasks of our laboratory. These values are transferred to calibration laboratories in our country through calibration and inter-laboratory comparison services.

DC resistance measurements can be performed between 100 µΩ and 100 TΩ. DC resistance measurements between 1 GΩ and 100 TΩ are performed using a TÜBİTAK UME made Wheatstone Bridge, while measurements up to 1 GΩ are performed using commercially available measurement bridges. Low current measurements down to 2 pA can also be performed using high value resistors. Studies to extend the scope of the low current measurements below 2 pA are being carried out.

In this context, DC resistance standards, resistance calibrators, DC current shunts, resistance meters, microohm meters, AC conductivity standards, AC conductivity meters, DC low current meters, DC low current sources can be calibrated in our laboratory.

DC low current measurement up to 2 pA can also be realized by using high resistors. Studies are being carried out in the laboratory to reduce this current value.

Capacitance Laboratory

AC resistance, capacitance, inductance and AC voltage ratio measurements are performed in the laboratory. One of the main tasks of our laboratory is to obtain these units at primary level and to participate in comparisons with other metrology institutes for the integration of the values obtained into the international system. These values are transferred to calibration laboratories in our country through calibration and inter-laboratory comparison services.

AC resistance measurements between 10 Ω - 2 MΩ, capacitance measurements between 1 pF - 1 mF, inductance measurements between 100 µH - 10 H can be performed in the laboratory. The traceability of AC resistance measurements and inductance measurements is provided by the laboratory's own facilities, while capacitance traceability is provided by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM).

In this context, capacitance standards, inductance standards, AC resistance standards, RLC meters, impedance analyzers, capacitance meters, artificial cable standards, inductive voltage dividers, force indicator devices, calibrators of force indicators can be calibrated in our laboratory.

In addition to calibration services, device/standard production services are also provided in Impedance Laboratories. In this context, various devices such as DC resistance standard, current shunt, capacitance standard, inductive voltage divider can be produced in the laboratory.
