"National Marker Application Stakeholders Meeting" was organized by TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute Organic Chemistry Laboratories on July 12, 2013 at TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus.
The meeting, organized by TÜBİTAK UME to exchange ideas for National Marker applications with its stakeholders and to evaluate the developments related to National Marker, was attended by experts from TÜBİTAK UME and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM as well as EMRA, TÜPRAŞ, PETDER (Petroleum Industry Association), Balpet Petrol Ürünleri Pazarlama A.Ş., BP Petrolleri A.Ş., Shell & Turcas Petrol A.Ş., Kaleli Best Oil Petrolcülük Ticaret A.Ş., Enerji Petrol Ürünleri Pazarlama A.Ş., Lukoil Eurasia Petrol A.Ş., Aytemiz Akaryakıt Dağıtım A.Ş., TP Petrol Dağıtım A.Ş., Siyam Petrolcülük Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Total Oil Turkey A.Ş, Lukoil Eurasia Petrol A.Ş., Aytemiz Akaryakıt Dağıtım A.Ş., TP Petrol Dağıtım A.Ş., Siyam Petrolcülük Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Total Oil Türkiye A.Ş., Altınbaş Petrol ve Ticaret A.Ş., N-PET Petrol Ürünleri Pazarlama Nakliye Sanayi Ticaret ve Dağıtım A.Ş, Turkuaz Petrol Ürünleri A.Ş., Kadooğlu Petrolcülük Taşımacılık Ticaret Sanayi İthalat ve İhracat A.Ş., OMV Petrol Ofisi A.Ş. and Opet Petrolcülük A.Ş.
In the meeting, where the opening speech was made by UME Director Dr. Fatih Üstüner, National Marker Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ceyhan Gören and National Marker Project Device Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Fikret Hacızade gave information about the project and shared the innovations made with the participants.
During the meeting, information was provided on the "National Marker Application for Bioethanol" and the "National Marker Application for Kerosene and Naphtha" (İŞARETR-GN), which started in early July.
In addition, details about the Mobile National Marker Reference Device (GUMREF) inspections, the first of which took place on February 27, 2013, and the updates on the National Marker Field Inspection Devices made by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM were shared.
After the presentations, the participants exchanged views on expectations from TÜBİTAK and possible activities. The program ended with a visit to TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Laboratories.
With the protocol signed between EMRA and TÜBİTAK UME in 2006, national marker is being developed entirely with domestic facilities. The national marker produced at TÜBİTAK UME Chemistry Laboratories is used to prevent fuel smuggling, increase tax revenues and prevent damage to vehicles due to inappropriate fuel.
