Metrology Education Cooperation between TÜBİTAK UME and BIPM

TÜBİTAK UME's proposal to provide free training to the staff of metrology institutes of developing countries under the Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer (CBKT) program was accepted.

In the program launched under the name of "BIPM-TÜBİTAK UME Project Placements" with the agreement signed between the two institutions

A training/research program will be organized at TÜBİTAK UME for 1-3 months for the personnel of metrology institutions in countries that have recently signed the CIPM Mutual Recognition Agreement (CIPM MRA) and will sign it in the near future.

A maximum of 10 researchers will be accepted for each semester of the program, which will be held in two semesters in 2018 and 2019. In their applications, which can be made through BIPM's website, candidates must submit a small-scale research project proposal on a topic of their choice in any field of metrology. Applications will be evaluated jointly by BIPM and TÜBİTAK UME. Training programs will be tailored specifically to the needs of each applicant to support their own research area. Successful candidates will also benefit from lectures by BIPM and TÜBİTAK UME experts. The training and accommodation of the personnel accepted to the program will be provided free of charge by TÜBİTAK UME.

The program, which focuses on helping young scientific and technical staff to achieve project objectives, also aims to provide a broader benefit by allowing participants to develop their technical skills.

The program of BIPM (International Bureau of Weights and Measures), which is the highest level organization in the field of scientific metrology and coordinates international activities in the field of scientific metrology, is supported by the metrology institutes of leading countries such as the USA, Germany and the UK, as well as the metrology institutes of Switzerland, China and South Africa.

The training program, which will be carried out jointly with BIPM for two years, has an important prestige value in terms of TÜBİTAK UME's place in the metrology world.

Applications for the training program, the first semester of which will start on April 1, 2018, will be accepted between September 18 and November 28, 2017, and the application results will be announced on December 18, 2017.
