The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office decided to grant a patent to the "Portable Ultrasonic Power Meter (PUG) Device" developed by TÜBİTAK UME Medical Metrology Laboratory with domestic and national facilities.
The invention in question, which aims to make the most accurate use of ultrasound technology used especially in physiotherapy and cancer treatment, was awarded a patent by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office with the assessment that it meets all of the patentability criteria (innovation, inventive step, industrial applicability).
Ultrasound technology is frequently used in healthcare organizations for diagnosis and treatment. Ultrasonic calibrators are used to verify the amount of power applied for the safety of the treatment. Since most of the ultrasonic calibrators available in the market work with the logic of scale measurement, in other words, they measure while in steady state, errors occur in the measurement of variable ultrasonic waves and indirect connections to the load cell cause inaccurate measurement of ultrasonic power.
With the Portable Ultrasonic Power Meter Calibrator subject to the patent, the mentioned problems have been solved; The PUG device, which can measure in the power range of 0.2W-100W, has a measurement uncertainty of less than %5, has usage and calibration software, and also makes it possible to make measurements in accordance with IEC 61161 standards. The PUG device stands out as a device that can measure variable ultrasonic waves with higher precision and accuracy compared to equivalent products on the market, where ultrasonic power is transferred directly to the load cell, can control the measurement environment and complies with standards. PUG, which is a technology open to development and improvement, also draws attention in terms of its ability to be produced at lower costs compared to equivalent products from abroad.
It is aimed to transfer the PUG device to the domestic industry for commercialization through the Presidency of TÜBİTAK Technology Transfer Office (TTO).
