At the IMEKO TB (Technical Board) and GC (General Assembly) meetings held in Germany on August 23-24, 2024, Cihan KUZU, Head of TÜBİTAK UME Force Laboratory, was appointed as the Chairman of the TC5 Hardness Measurements Technical Committee operating within the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO) for a period of 3 years.
The TC5 Technical Committee on Hardness Measurements, one of the 25 technical committees working in the field of metrology under the umbrella of IMEKO, has a total of 22 members from Germany, the United States of America, Brazil, the Czech Republic, China, France, South Korea, Croatia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Egypt, Poland, Russia, Thailand and Turkey.
IMEKO, which consists of 42 member organizations working on the development of measurement technologies, was established in 1958. The main objectives of the society, of which Turkey is a member, are to increase the international exchange of scientific and technical information in the fields of measurement and instrumentation, and to encourage the development of international cooperation between scientists and engineers from R&D and industry.
With this new task, which is an important threshold in terms of strengthening our right to representation in the world metrology platform, TÜBİTAK UME increases its active role in the world metrology system.
