TÜBİTAK UME, together with COMSATS (The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South), hosted the "Metrology Workshop for Least Developed Countries" at TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE on November 26-27, 2018.
The workshop was attended by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, TÜBİTAK UME Director Dr. Mustafa Çetintaş and 32 representatives from Tanzania, Senegal, Bangladesh, Gambia, Uganda, Pakistan, Iran, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Libya, Turkey and Austria.
The main objective of the workshop was to improve the knowledge base, expertise and capacity of institutions working in the field of metrology in least developed countries, as well as to prepare roadmaps to address the areas they need to develop metrology infrastructure.
At the end of the two-day workshop, which also included workshops on establishing regional and international partnerships to share approaches and best practices in the field of metrology, it was decided to provide support through UNIDO for activities to be carried out in this field.
