Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Portuguese Institute of Quality (IPQ)

TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute (UME) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Portuguese Institute of Quality (IPQ) to develop scientific metrological cooperation.

On March 8, 2018, Dr. Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ, Director of TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute, and António Mira dos SANTOS, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Quality Institute, signed the "Memorandum of Understanding", which was registered after the 3rd Term Meeting of the Turkey-Portugal Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) held at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and attended by Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi.

With the signed agreement between the two Institutes;

  • Strengthening relations in the field of metrology,
  • Sharing technical information and views on activities in the field of metrology internationally and in Europe,
  • Coordination on training of experts from both countries,
  • Increasing the technical equipment of experts from both countries through visits to be organized

conditions have been determined for the subjects.

In addition to metrology, the meeting also touched upon issues such as increasing our trade volume with Portugal and the importance of Portugal's support for Turkey's EU membership.

With this agreement, the number of Memorandums of Understanding signed by TÜBİTAK UME with equivalent organizations abroad has increased to 37.
