The first action plan meeting within the scope of the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding signed last October for the development of scientific and legal metrological cooperation between TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute (UME), Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology General Directorate of Metrology and Standardization (MSGM) and Bosnia and Herzegovina Metrology Institute (IMBIH) was held on 22 January 2018 at TÜBİTAK UME.

TUBITAK UME Director Dr. Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ, IMBIH General Manager Zijad DŽEMIĆ and Erol FERHAT, Head of Metrology Department, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, as well as experts from TÜBİTAK UME, IMBIH and MSGM attended the meeting.

During the meeting, developments in EU legislation on metrology in general and legal metrology practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina in line with EU legislation were discussed, with particular emphasis on EU directives and legal metrology practices related to medical devices, moisture measurements in cereal products and legal metrology practices related to breath alcohol measurements.

At the meeting, where possible collaborations in EMPIR projects were also discussed, a visit to TÜBİTAK UME Medical Metrology Laboratory was organized after the presentations of the participating institutions.

Meetings within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding signed to develop scientific and legal metrological cooperation are planned to continue throughout the year.
