COOMET Technical Committee Meeting Organized by TÜBİTAK UME

TÜBİTAK UME hosted the "COOMET (Cooperation of Eurasian National Metrology Institutes) Length and Angle Technical Committee Meeting".

This year's meeting of the committee, of which TÜBİTAK UME is a member, was held in Istanbul Kalyon Hotel on September 30-October 1, 2015. In addition to Turkey, representatives from countries such as Ukraine, Germany, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Georgia, Georgia, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine attended the meeting.

At the meeting, which is held annually with the participation of experts from COOMET member countries, developments in the field of length and angle measurements were discussed and ongoing and new comparisons, projects and collaborations were evaluated.

At the meeting, participating countries shared information about the length metrology activities in their countries with their presentations, and TÜBİTAK UME Time Frequency and Wavelength Laboratory and Dimensional Laboratory were also introduced.

After the meetings, the participants were informed about the infrastructure and measurement facilities of TÜBİTAK UME with a laboratory tour on October 2.

The technical committee meeting is important as it is the first organization hosted by TÜBİTAK UME shortly after it officially became a member of COOMET, a regional metrology organization covering Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Turkic Republics, including Russia, in April.

Having the potential to be a bridge between two regional metrology organizations EURAMET and COOMET with its location, existing infrastructure and experienced experts 

TÜBİTAK UME aims to increase its contacts and cooperation with the metrology institutes of other member countries, especially the metrology institutes in the Turkic Republics, even more effectively in the coming years.
