(TIRF-SIM) (2232-B International Young Researchers Program)

In the project titled "Development of an Advanced Laser Beam Shaping Technique for Total Internal Reflection based Structured Illumination Microscopy" initiated within the scope of the International Leading Researchers Program (TÜBİTAK 2232), 2 PhD students will be recruited as fellows.

Doctoral students (2 people) will be able to take part as scholarship holders in the project titled "Development of an Advanced Laser Beam Shaping Technique for Total Internal Reflection based Structured Illumination Microscopy" initiated within the scope of the International Leading Researchers Program (TÜBİTAK 2232) and carried out by Dr. Ahmet Ata AKATAY.

DETAILS:
Number of Scholars 2
Location of the Scholarship Recipient: Gebze / Kocaeli
Project Name: "Development of an Advanced Laser Beam Shaping Technique for Total Internal Reflection based Structured Illumination Microscopy"

Project Coordinator: Dr. Ahmet Ata Akatay

Project Content:
This project will study the generation of sub-wavelength surface waves at the interface of a bare glass and a test sample using a high-tech laser shaping technique. The technique will be studied by nanometric characterization of the surface waves and numerical modeling of laser shaping and surface waves. The technique will be used for the development of a novel Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence - Structured Illumination Microscopy (TIRF-SIM) system. The performance of the system will be evaluated in comparison with the standard TIRF-SIM system with Gaussian beam.

OCIS topics: 050.5082 Phase space in wave optics; 080.7343 Wave dressing of rays; 120.4570 Optical design of instruments; 130.2790 Guided waves; 140.3300 Laser beam shaping; 180.2520 Fluorescence microscopy; 240.6690 Surface waves; 260.6042 Singular optics; 260.6970 Total internal reflection; 330.6130 Spatial resolution
