Subject: EMPIR Safest Workshop Announcement
From August 20 to 21, 2024, an online workshop on Fluid Metrology will be held, featuring the outputs of the EMPIR Safest project.
The overall objective of the Safest project is to lay the foundation for advanced flow metrology in the transportation sector by providing reliable fuel consumption measurements required in road and maritime transport. By enabling closer characterization of flowmeters to operational conditions and better assessment of the impact of fuel properties on flow measurements, the project results will stimulate innovation in the transport sector and support the increased use of sustainable alternative transport fuels. Furthermore, the results will contribute to appropriate emission calculations. In this workshop, the findings and outputs of the project will be presented.
Topics will include:
- Technologies for realizing and measuring dynamic flow changes
- Influence of transport properties on flowmeter performance
- Simulation of the interaction between test fluid and flowmeters
- Determination of density/viscosity/sound velocity of selected alternative and synthetic fuels over a wide range of pressures and temperatures
- Evaluation of commercial inline viscometers/density meters
Project duration: September 2021 - August 2024
This project is a joint research project within the European Metrology Research Program EMPIR.
