The 4th Progress Meeting of the project titled "Vacuum Metrology for Industrial Applications", in which TÜBİTAK UME is also involved within the scope of the European Metrology Research Program (EMRP), was organized by TÜBİTAK UME.
The 4th of the semi-annual meetings of the project titled "IND 12 Vacuum Metrology for Industrial Applications", which started on September 1, 2011 and will be completed on August 31, 2014, was held on March 7-8, 2013 with the participation of 13 Institutes and Universities from 9 partner countries. The meeting started with the introductions and presentations of two new REG (Research Excellent Grant) from Greece and Germany, and the work carried out on 3 separate work packages was presented by the participants. TÜBİTAK UME Vacuum Laboratory, which carries out its activities in 2 work packages, including task leadership in one of them, actively participated in the meeting with 4 presentations.
In general at the meeting;
- Simulation and experiments of very fast dynamic gas expansions,
- Vacuum gauge design with very fast response time (in µs),
- Initial calibration results of leakage elements in atmosphere and vacuum,
- Leak sniffers and calibrations for refrigerants,
- Preparation of guidance document on metrological performance of leak detectors,
- Leakage element performances under industrial conditions,
- Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer (QMS) calibrations,
- Effects of functional parameters on QMS sensitivity and cracking patterns,
- QMS time stability measurements,
- QMS metrological characterization studies,
- "Outgassing" rate measurements and systems,
- Selection of materials that can be used as reference for "outgassing" measurements
issues were discussed. It was decided to continue the work in accordance with the project timeline, and the to-do list and the schedule were discussed. On the first day of the meeting, TÜBİTAK UME Vacuum Laboratory was visited and the Primary Level National Vacuum Standard (Multistage Static Expansion System), Dynamic Vacuum System used in QMS characterization, Leakage Standards and Detectors Characterization System and Vacuum Gauge Calibration Systems were introduced to the project partners.
