TUBITAK National Metrology Institute (UME) inaugurated 5 new metrology laboratories with modern infrastructure within the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI).
At the end of 2023, the Time and Frequency, RF and Microwave Power, Impedance, Volume and Medical Metrology Laboratories, which were established at the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute under the State Service for Anti-Monopoly and Consumer Market Supervision of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, were inaugurated with a ceremony held in Baku. During the project, the quality infrastructure of these laboratories will be improved and integrated into the international system.
Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samad Bashirli, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey Muhammad Qasim Volunteer, Dr. Martin JT Milton, President of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), Dr. Bobjoseph Mathew, President of the International Committee for Legal Metrology (CIML), and Mammad Abbasbeyli, Director of the State Service for Anti-Monopoly and Consumer Market Control (SSACMC) of Azerbaijan, also attended the opening ceremony, where TÜBİTAK UME Acting Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çetintaş made a presentation within the scope of the project.
The laboratories, where tests and calibrations of high-precision measuring devices will be carried out in critical areas such as defense industry, aviation, communication, medical equipment production, will provide an important impetus to Azerbaijan's integration into the metrology world.
All stages of the project, including the production and installation of systems, devices and equipment, software development, training of personnel and support of quality infrastructure, will be carried out by TÜBİTAK UME, and the installation of 7 other new metrology laboratories, which are targeted to be completed within 18 months, will also be realized within the scope of this project.
