TUBITAK UME has successfully completed the Project for the Establishment of Time - Frequency Measurements and Calibration Laboratory at the Metrology Institute (NMCC) of the Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Completed in a short period of 9 months, the official opening ceremony of the laboratory, which was held on June 8, was attended by TÜBİTAK UME Institute Director Dr. Fatih ÜSTÜNER, Technical Assistant Directors Dr. Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ceyhan GÖREN, Project Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Ramiz HAMİD and the project team. The laboratory was opened by Dr. Saad ALKASABİ, President of SASO and Dr. Fatih ÜSTÜNER, Director of TÜBİTAK UME Institute.
With the establishment of the Time - Frequency Measurements and Calibration Laboratory at the Metrology Institute of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (NMCC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the work to establish the national time of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to distribute it within the borders of the Kingdom and to enable the laboratory to provide calibration and other industrial services in the field of time frequency within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been completed. The work to ensure the traceability of SASO and Mecca time primarily through UME via GPS Common Sighting Method and to ensure the international traceability of SASO national time continues.
The officials of the Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and TÜBİTAK UME officials came together at TÜBİTAK UME between 3-5 September 2012, and a Project Agreement was signed by SASO President Dr. Saad ALKASABİ and TÜBİTAK UME Institute Director Dr. Fatih ÜSTÜNER for the establishment of a Time - Frequency Measurements and Calibration Laboratory in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by TÜBİTAK UME.
