The Memorandum of Understanding between TÜBİTAK UME and the Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization (GSO) was renewed with an agreement signed on 16 December 2016.
At the signing ceremony attended by Nabil A. MOLLA, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization (GSO) and Mohammed AL-MUSALLAM, President of Qatar General Directorate of Standardization and Metrology (QS), the Memorandum of Understanding with GSO, which was first registered in 2011, was re-signed for a period of five years.
With the first signed Memorandum of Understanding, TÜBİTAK UME became an associate member of the newly established GULFMET, the regional metrology organization of the Gulf countries, and a roadmap determining the cooperation between GULFMET and TÜBİTAK UME was implemented.
Within this framework, TÜBİTAK UME actively participated in GULFMET's activities and made significant contributions in technical committee meetings, piloting 6 comparisons, and organizing training workshops on various topics.
Within the framework of the renewed agreement, it is envisaged that TÜBİTAK UME will cooperate with GULFMET on the basis of the same activities with the aim of making GULFMET fully capable of fulfilling its functions as a regional metrology organization integrated into the international system.
