Applications for the long-term (1 - 3 months) training program to be organized by TÜBİTAK UME in 2018 within the scope of the BIPM (International Bureau of Weights and Measures) Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer (CBKT) program were completed on 28 November 2017.
58 applications were received from 23 countries including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Libya, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Kyrgyzstan, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates and Zambia.
During the evaluation phase, requests from countries that have not signed the CIPM MRA and applications received from those not working at a national metrology institute were excluded. The remaining 44 applications were evaluated and 10 applications were accepted. In addition, it was decided to place 7 applications on the reserve list.
The countries whose applications have been accepted are Azerbaijan in Time Frequency, UAE in Impedance, Herzegovina in Fluid, Ethiopia in Mass, Ghana in Temperature, Iran in Voltage, Kazakhstan in Pressure, Kenya in RF Microwave, Saudi Arabia and Zambia in Dimensional.
The applications of Belarus in Power and Energy, Bosnia and Herzegovina in Organic Chemistry, Iran in Dimensional, Kenya in Pressure, Moldova in Mass, Saudi Arabia in Watt Balance and Ukraine in Power Energy were also shortlisted.
The first semester of the program, which will be held in two semesters in 2018 and 2019, will start on April 1, 2018.
The training program, which will be carried out jointly with BIPM for two years, has an important prestige value in terms of TÜBİTAK UME's place in the metrology world.
