TÜBİTAK UME started a metrology training program for the representatives of the member countries of the Standardization and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC) Metrology Committee.

The second leg of the trainings, the first of which was held in Tunisia based on the decision taken within the scope of the action plan of the SMIIC Metrology Committee, was held at TÜBİTAK UME between February 22-26, 2016.

With the contributions of the Statistical, Economic, Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), 32 representatives from Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Iran, Cameroon, Niger, Senegal and Sierra Leone, members of the SMIIC Metrology Committee participated in the trainings given in the fields of General Dimensional Metrology, General Electrical Metrology, General Pressure Metrology and Calibration of Pressure Gauges with Digital Indicators, and Metrology of Piston Pressure Standards.

The program, which started with the aim of providing basic level trainings to improve the laboratory experience of SMIIC Metrology Committee member countries, is planned to continue in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming months.

SMIIC was established in 2010 within the Organization for Cooperation of Islamic Countries (OIC), aiming to develop national quality infrastructures in cooperation in order to eliminate incompatibilities in technical issues that constitute an obstacle to trade among Islamic countries.
