TUBITAK UME Participated in Measurement Symposium and Exhibition

TÜBİTAK UME participated in the Measurement Science Symposium and Exhibition organized by TMMOB Chamber of Mechanical Engineers Izmir Branch in Izmir on 20-22 November 2019.

Changes, developments, technical-legal regulations and sectoral problems in the field of measurement science are discussed.

The event, organized with the main theme of "What Has Changed", was followed by nearly 300 participants from TÜBİTAK UME, scientific and legal metrology actors, academics from various universities, representatives of calibration and test laboratories, and metrology instrument and equipment suppliers.

The opening conference was held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin UĞUR with the title "What has changed in SI Units?"

Within the scope of the symposium, which was supported by many researchers and experts from TÜBİTAK and TÜBİTAK UME with their presentations and posters, 56 papers and 11 poster presentations were presented in 17 sessions on topics such as "Legal Metrology", "Accreditation Practices and Problems", "Enabling Role of Metrology for Science, Defense and Health", "Temperature Measurements", "Electrical Measurements", "Mechanical Measurements".

In addition, 21 institutions and organizations, including TÜBİTAK UME, had the opportunity to share their products, services and works in the field of measurement science with the participants at the exhibition organized in parallel with the symposium.

On the second day of the symposium, 'Machine Tool Metrology' was discussed in the workshop organized by Assoc. Prof. Tanfer Yandayan, one of the researchers of TÜBİTAK UME Dimensional Laboratory. A panel titled "The Effects of the Change in SI Units on Life and Scientific Studies" and an interview titled "How Much Metrology? - On the Place of Metrology in Our Lives" by Uğur AKKAYA, Corporate Communication Officer of TÜBİTAK UME, were also held at the symposium.

In addition, a part of the 'Top of the Scales' Exhibition, consisting of 4,500 scales, weights and measuring instruments from different periods, which is located in Tofaş Bursa Anatolian Cars Museum and presented to our cultural life by the collector High Architect A. Naim ARNAS, was also exhibited in the exhibition area.
