The World Metrology Day poster, which is announced to the whole world every year by the International Organization for Legal Metrology (OIML) and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and used by national metrology organizations by translating it into their own languages, was signed by TÜBİTAK UME in cooperation with the European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET) this year.
The 2024 World Metrology Day poster prepared with the main theme of sustainability was designed by Uğur AKKAYA, Corporate Communications Officer at TÜBİTAK UME.
TUBITAK UME, which had previously contributed to the World Metrology Day activities with a poster designed by Uğur AKKAYA in 2013, has made its name in this success for the second time.
This successful cooperation and design has an important prestige value in terms of demonstrating TÜBİTAK UME's position in international platforms in the field of metrology.
On "World Metrology Day", which started to be recognized as a science after the Metre Convention signed in Paris on May 20, 1875 and has been celebrated with various activities all over the world on May 20 every year since then, this year, it is aimed to emphasize the contribution of metrology to the establishment of a sustainable global economy and environment.
This year is also noteworthy in that UNESCO officially recognizes May 20th of each year as UNESCO International Day, creating new opportunities to promote metrology.
