TÜBİTAK UME organized a "Metrology Awareness Seminar" for KOÜ-Mechatronics Engineering students on May 20, "World Metrology Day".

TÜBİTAK UME, which has been continuing its "Metrology Awareness Program" for secondary, high school and university students for many years, was the guest of Kocaeli University Mechatronics Engineering Department on May 18, 2023. Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk ÇELİK, Vice Dean of the faculty, and Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Metin ERTUNÇ, Lecturer, attended the seminar as well as the students.

In the seminar organized by TÜBİTAK UME Corporate Communication Officer Uğur AKKAYA, information about the importance of metrology in our daily lives, its history and application areas in our country was conveyed to the students with an interactive activity. In addition, Esra EREN, an employee of TÜBİTAK UME Human Resources Unit, gave information about internship and job opportunities after graduation.

Metrology (or the science of measurement) is a branch of science whose subject of study is measurement, and began to be recognized as a branch of science after the signing of the Metre Convention in Paris on May 20, 1875. Since then, May 20 has been celebrated as "World Metrology Day".
