Within the scope of the National Technology Move, the "Workshop on Nationalization of SRM Production" was held on January 19, 2023 under the coordination and hosting of TÜBİTAK UME in order to provide Certified Reference Material (SRM) production in our country with domestic and national resources and to prevent dependence on foreign countries in this field.

In the workshop, which brought together the main actors of the public institutions operating in this field that can play a role in SRM production, the first steps were taken to accurately identify sectoral needs and develop projects on the basis of common sense.

More than 100 representatives from 34 different institutions and organizations participated in the workshop, where awareness-raising activities to be carried out for the use of appropriate reference materials in order to ensure measurement quality and the possibilities of domestic and national production of these materials, most of which originate from abroad, were discussed.

At the workshop, it was agreed that the production of certified reference materials should be handled in a holistic manner, and that the existing cooperation between the public and private sectors should be increased and resources should be used efficiently through division of labor in order to ensure that imported SRMs are produced domestically and that Turkey becomes a sustainable and competitive exporter in this field in the future.

In the workshop, which is a milestone for the production of certified reference materials, which are currently almost entirely imported, with domestic and national resources by combining the opportunities of the public and private sectors, it was decided to support the work initiated by TÜBİTAK UME, as the first accredited SRM manufacturer of our country, for leadership and coordination with its experience, infrastructure and product portfolio.
