New Role for TÜBİTAK UME in CIGRE Turkey National Committee

Since 1921, CIGRE (International Council for Electrical Energy Systems) has been operating under the umbrella of CIGRE (International Council for Electrical Energy Systems) and the distribution of duties was realized in the executive committee of the CIGRE Turkey National Committee. Ercüment ÖZDEMİRCİ from TEİAŞ was elected as the Chairman of the Executive Committee and Dr. Ahmet MEREV from TÜBİTAK UME High Voltage Laboratory was elected as the Vice Chairman.

CIGRE is an International technical community with approximately 1150 institutional and over 7500 individual members from 90 countries, where experts from all over the world share their knowledge and promote cooperation by joining forces to improve the electric energy systems of today and tomorrow.   

CIGRE Working Groups, whose technical work is carried out by 16 Working Committees and approximately 250 Working Groups affiliated to these committees, employ 3500 experts from all over the world, and 50-60 reports and articles are published every year on different topics. Our country has been represented in CIGRE with individual and institutional memberships since the 1990s, and our country has been actively involved in CIGRE since 2015 with the establishment of the CIGRE Turkey National Committee.
