Another strategic product in the field of defense was produced domestically.
TÜBİTAK UME, which has carried out important projects in the defense industry, has succeeded in producing missile fuel, which was imported from abroad until now, with domestic facilities.
The JP-10 coded missile fuel, which can only be produced by a few developed countries in the world, was developed as a result of the work of TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute (UME) researchers, which has been ongoing since 2007 and accelerated in the last two years, and started to be produced in a mini pilot plant using the infrastructure facilities of the institute. In recent months, 100 liters of JP-10 synthetic fuel produced at the facility was delivered to ROKETSAN A.Ş. for use in its research.
The missile fuel, which is produced through a series of chemical reactions in special reactors, has also passed the class in terms of quality and has been certified to comply with international standards.
The best missile fuel in the world
The high-thrust JP-10 missile fuel, which is the best missile fuel produced in the world, will also be used in all new turbojet-engined missiles to be developed, including the national missile SOM, also developed by TÜBİTAK.
With the optimization studies carried out at TÜBİTAK UME's mini missile fuel pilot production facility, which has a daily production capacity of 10 liters, all necessary preparations were made for the establishment of a computer-controlled fully automatic pilot plant.
With the commissioning of the new facility, for which feasibility studies have been completed, it is aimed to increase the production capacity to 100 liters per day and thus reduce the cost per liter.
Both expensive and difficult to procure
Although the price per liter of missile fuel imported so far has been cheaper, astronomical prices are encountered and there are significant difficulties in obtaining it due to the production and sales conditions of the developed countries producing the fuel.
In this respect, the production of fuel with national resources is an important strategic move in the field of defense.
