Within the framework of the Public Institutions Research and Development Projects Support Program, the Turkish Standards Institute and TUBITAK The Force Calibration and Hardness Block Calibration Laboratories, which were realized in cooperation with the National Metrology Institute, started to serve with a ceremony held on January 11, 2016.
TUBITAK UME Director Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ, TSE Testing and Calibration Center President Ömer SÖNMEZ, Calibration Group President Abdulmuttalip AKTOĞ, Gebze Calibration Manager Ali Can KUYRUKLUYILDIZ, Project executives Dr. Sinan FANK and Cihan KUZU, relevant department managers and technical staff attended the ceremony.
In Turkey, many sectors such as automotive, aerospace, aircraft, shipbuilding, machinery, metals and chemicals produce mechanical parts, system bodies, structural steels, sheet metal, plastic pipes, cables, seat belts and similar materials.
These laboratories will serve as a reference for the test machines used to determine the accuracy of tensile - compression and hardness machines used in the performance and safety tests of these materials and products, with the calibration of force measuring devices and hardness block gauges.
There are a total of 4 force calibration machines and 2 hardness calibration machines in the laboratories, whose projects and software are completely indigenously designed and 100% domestic.
This technology transfer work carried out by TÜBİTAK UME by sharing its know-how is of great importance in terms of responding to the needs of the industry in the fields of force and hardness within TSE and securing the calibrations to be performed in this context under the traceability chain.
