Medical Metrology Workshop was hosted by TÜBİTAK UME on February 13, 2013.

Organized with the support of the Ministry of Health, Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), the workshop was attended by approximately 200 people from public institutions, research institutes, universities, calibration laboratories, representatives of medical device manufacturers and NGOs. At the workshop, the studies carried out within the scope of the "Medical Metrology Feasibility Project", which has been carried out by TÜBİTAK UME since 2012 in order to identify the problems encountered in the calibration and verification of existing medical devices in our country, were shared. The Ministry of Health, Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency gave information about the "Draft Regulation on Testing, Control and Calibration of Medical Devices".

The opening speeches of the workshop were delivered by Dr. Fatih ÜSTÜNER, Acting Director of TÜBİTAK UME Institute, and Dr. Ercan ŞİMŞEK, Vice President of TİTCK.

Following the presentations, a panel on "The Status and Future of Medical Metrology in Turkey" was organized. Dr. Fatih ÜSTÜNER, Dr. Ercan ŞİMŞEK, Prof. Dr. İrfan KARAGÖZ, Prof. Dr. Osman EROĞUL, Prof. Dr. Diler ASLAN, Assoc. Dr. Ahmet Ceyhan GÖREN and Aynur DAVUT participated in the panel. Questions of the workshop participants were answered in the panel. At the end of the workshop, it was decided to organize a meeting with the participation of TİTCK, TÜBİTAK UME, university representatives and TÜRKAK in order to publish the Regulation on Testing, Control and Calibration of Medical Devices as soon as possible. TÜBİTAK officials stated that UME will continue to work on ensuring the reliability and measurement traceability of devices used in diagnosis and treatment in the field of health.titled presentations were made.
