TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Bureau of Measurements (GUM) of Poland to improve metrological cooperation.
Dr. Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ, Director of TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute, and Dr. Włodzimierz LEWANDOWSKI, President of GUM, signed the "Memorandum of Understanding", which was recorded during the visit of the Polish Central Bureau of Measurements (GUM) officials to TÜBİTAK UME on 25-26 September 2017.
In addition to the President of GUM, the visit was organized for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding.
Maciej DOBIESZEWSKI, General Manager Andrzej HANTZ and International Relations Officer Marcin MIKIEL also attended.
During the visit, information about the development, administrative and financial structure of TÜBİTAK UME was shared in order to be useful in the restructuring of the Central Bureau of Measurements of Poland and the establishment of a new campus, and Polish officials were also given the opportunity to examine TÜBİTAK UME laboratories.
With the signed agreement, joint projects in the field of Time-Frequency such as the realization of time scales, optical clocks, comparison of time scales, time interval measurements, noise measurements and laser metrology, mercury determination in water with ICP-OES and ICP-MS in the field of chemical metrology and production of reference materials, Watt Balance, Nanometrology, development of optical devices and training of mutual technical personnel were identified.
It is aimed to develop future cooperation with the Central Bureau of Measurements of Poland within the framework of the uninterrupted and friendly diplomatic relations of more than 600 years between Turkey and Poland, which was also referred to in the presentation made by the President of GUM during the visit.
On the other hand, with this agreement, the number of Memorandums of Understanding signed by TÜBİTAK UME with equivalent organizations abroad has increased to 33.
