Cihan KUZU, Senior Principal Researcher at TÜBİTAK UME Hardness Laboratory, was elected as the chairman of GULFMET Working Group on Research and Development (GULFMET WG R&D), which was decided to be established at the interim meeting of the GULFMET (Gulf States Metrology Association) General Assembly held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on December 12-13, 2022, for a period of 5 years.
Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen are the main members of GULFMET, while Bosnia and Herzegovina, South Korea, Hong Kong and Egypt are associate members.
The Working Group, whose field of activity is the determination and implementation of strategies related to the R&D activities of the national metrology institutes of the GULFMET member Gulf countries, will also undertake the integration of these countries into the international metrology system in the field of metrology, their membership in the relevant organizations, and the planning and realization of advanced studies in the field of metrology in order to take an active role in these organizations.
With this new task, which is an important threshold in terms of strengthening our right to representation in the world metrology platform, TÜBİTAK UME increases its responsibilities and leadership mission in the metrology functioning of the developing Gulf Countries along with its active role in the European metrology system.
