The final presentation of the "Training on Halal Food and Meat Detection Methods and Inter-Laboratory Comparison for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Countries" Project funded by the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), including TÜBİTAK UME, will be held between 23-26 November 2023. Halal Expo 2023-World Halal Summitin the city.
Within the scope of the project, in which TÜBİTAK UME undertook the practical training on Halal Food and Meat Detection Methods, production of Inter-Laboratory Comparison materials and sending them to participating laboratories, a training program was held by the Standards and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC) between 23-26 October.
Within the scope of the program held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, TÜBİTAK UME provided a practical training on the detection of non-halal substances in food, meat, processed meat and gelatin for approximately 100 participants representing 15 laboratories from 10 Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries, including Indonesia, Morocco, Iraq, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Jordan as well as Turkey.
The project, which aims to distribute proficiency testing materials and kits for halal testing to participating laboratories, is scheduled to conclude with an online international conference in Istanbul at the end of November.
For TÜBİTAK UME, which continues to support the functioning of the sector with the responsibility of being the country's leading organization in the field of metrology, this project has prestige value in terms of proving its competence in the international arena.
