TÜBİTAK UME organized a Metrology Workshop at the South Asia-Europe Science, Technology and Innovation Days (ASEAN-EU STI Days) held in Thailand in January 2014 with the aim of increasing cooperation between South Asian Countries and European Countries in scientific fields.
SEA-EU-NET 2 supported by Fp7 Project budget (EU-ASEAN S&T Europe-South Asia Scientific and Technological Cooperation for Jointly Addressing Social Challenges) During the STI days, which is an output of the Project, the Metrology Workshop was organized by TÜBİTAK UME. During the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Tanfer YANDAYAN, one of the employees of our Institute, together with Dr. Kamal HOSSAIN, President of EURAMET (European Association of Metrology Institutes) and Director of the National Metrology Institute (NPL) of the United Kingdom, discussed "Expectations from Metrology Today", European Metrology Research Programs EMRP and EMPIR gave seminars on the topics. During the Metrology Workshop, the President of NSTDA, known as the TUBITAK of Thailand, the Director of the National Institute of Metrology of Thailand (NIMT), the President of EURAMET came together under the moderation of TUBITAK UME and discussed possible joint activities for the planned South Asia Metrology Regional Organization.
In addition to the Metrology Workshop; Assoc. Prof. Tanfer YANDAYAN gave a seminar on the inclusion of South Asian Researchers in metrology research programs at the workshop titled "Supports for South Asian Researchers" organized by EURAXESS unit under the European Commission. The SEA-EU-NET 2 Project aims to develop and strengthen the links between Europe and South Asia in the field of Science and Technology by building on previous work, and to accelerate Science and Technology cooperation by creating deep links between institutions.
TUBITAK UME, representing the European National Metrology Institutes, is working with the National Metrology Institute of Malaysia to create strong Science and Technology links between Europe and South Asia using metrology research activities in this project. SEA-EU-NET 2, an FP7 INCO (International Cooperation) Project, will run from 2012-2016.
