Photovoltaic (PV) Performance and Safety Testing Services Workshop was held on April 12, 2019 at TÜBİTAK UME.

In addition to the managers of institutions and organizations working in the field of solar energy technologies, academicians, researchers, manufacturers and users attended the workshop organized to promote the information and technology infrastructures available at TÜBİTAK UME for the testing of PV panels and to ensure that they can be used effectively in the country.

TÜBİTAK UME Director Dr. Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ gave information about the services provided at the Photovoltaic Performance and Safety Test Center established within the institute. Ramazan USTA, Deputy General Manager of the General Directorate of Energy Affairs, and Nazım YAVUZ, Board Member of the Solar Energy Association (GÜNDER), made presentations on the status of the photovoltaic sector in the world and in Turkey and domestic production.

In addition, Prof. Dr. Raşit TURAN, Director of METU Solar Energy Research and Application Center, Serhan SÜZER, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EkoRE, Orçun BAŞLAK, General Manager of Solarian Energy and Halil DEMİRDAĞ, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Smart Energy, shared their knowledge in their fields of expertise with the participants.

Şenol ERDOĞAN from TÜBİTAK TEYDEP Transportation, Defense, Energy and Textile Technologies Group gave information about "TÜBİTAK's support mechanisms for R&D studies to be carried out for PV technologies" and the issues, suggestions and problems encountered regarding PV testing services were also discussed.

It was decided to prepare a final declaration for the solutions of the problems identified in the workshop, where the problems faced by PV manufacturers and investors in our country during the production, development and use of PV panels, as well as the reasons for being dependent on foreign countries for PV tests were discussed.
