Studies are under way aimed to detect very low magnetic fields and to produce low magnetic field sensors. Currently we are working on fluxgate sensors which are often used in satellite systems for orientation purposes. Our aim is to measure magnetic fields at the level of Nanotesla (nT), which is much below the Earth’s magnetic field (50 mT).
In the short term, the laboratory intends to begin studies on preparation and characterization of thin film based GMR and AMR magnetoresistive sensors.
