Mine BİLSEL (Head of Laboratory)
Mine Bilsel recieved her B.Sc degrees from Fateh University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry. She took a position as a researcher at TÜBİTAK MRC Chemistry Department in 1993 and continued her career at TÜBİTAK UME beginning in 2002. In the organic chemistry laboratories within the scope of chemical metrology, she worked on method development and method validation for determination of organic compounds in food and environmental samples. She worked on the purity assessments of organic analytes, and was involved in EMRP projects and intercomparisons. She has 10 publications in international scientific journals. She has been working as a senior researcher in Organic Chemistry Laboratories at UME.
Dr. Simay GÜNDÜZ
Simay Gündüz graduated from Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ), Department of Chemistry in 2003. She received her Master of Science degree from İTÜ under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Turan Öztürk on “synthesis and characterization of 3-hydroxyflavones” in 2005. She has been continuing her PhD studies in the same University on “synthesis of 3-hydroxyflavone based organic and polymeric sensors”. She has been working as a researcher in TÜBİTAK UME, Organic Chemistry Laboratory since 2005. Her research interests focused on the design, synthesis and characterization of organic materials, organic dyes, fuel marker technologies, NMR and qNMR (quantitative NMR), purity assessment of organic molecules (qNMR, GC-FID, GC-MS, HPLC), and gas chromatographic (GC-FID, GC-IDMS, GC-MS) analyses. She has worked in national and international projects including “National Fuel Marker Project” and “EMRP, Metrology for Biofuels”, international comparisons and production & certification of reference materials. She has published six scientific papers in international journals. Currently, she has been working as a senior researcher in Organic Chemistry Laboratories at UME.
Adnan ŞİMŞEK
Adnan Şimşek graduated from the Middle East Technical University in 1993. He received his Master of Science degree from Kocaeli University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Management Department. He worked at Bayer Türk Kimya San. Ltd. in the quality control department between 1997 and 2006. Then, he started working at TÜBİTAK UME in November 2006 as a researcher in the National Marker Project. Moreover, he also worked on isotopic measurements as part of national and international (EMRP) projects, and has been conducting industrial test services in TÜBİTAK UME, which are on determination of the isotope ratio of d13C/12C in honey. He took responsibility in the first certified reference material production and certification projects as a researcher. Additionally, he has been lecturing on “Method Validation” and “Training Metrology in Chemistry-TrainMIC”, organized at TÜBİTAK UME. Currently, he is working as a researcher in Organic Chemistry Laboratories at TÜBİTAK UME.
Besim İNAN
Besim İnan graduated from Yüzüncü Yıl University, Tatvan Vocational College, Electrical Technician Training Program in 1999. He worked at Ahlat Büyük Selçuklu Hotel as the manager of technical services between 1999 and 2003, and as a security officer between 2005 and 2009. He joined TÜBİTAK UME and worked as a security officer between 2009 and 2012. He was involved in the National Marker Site Audit. Then, in 2012, he started working in as a Technician in the Chemistry Group Laboratories. He is currently involved in the National Fuel Marker Project as a site controller.
Esra ÖZKAN
Esra OZKAN completed her high school at Lafarge Aslan Cimento Industrial Vocational High School in 2001. She graduated from Koceali University, Dye Technology Programme in 2004. Between 2004-2007, she worked as a technician at DYO Boya Industry San. in input and quality controller unit. Since 2007, she has been working at TÜBİTAK UME, Chemistry Department.
Gökhan BİLSEL
He completed his B.Sc degree in 1991 at Hacettepe University, Engineering Faculty and Physical Engineering Department. He started his Master of Science degree at Marmara University, Physics Department, and completed his thesis entitled “Thermal Desorber Device Manufacturing and TD-GC/MS analysis of ambient air" in 1997. His started his career as a researcher at TÜBİTAK, Department of Chemistry, in 2003, and moved to TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute in 2003. He was involved in characterization, structural elucidation and purity analysis (GC, HPLC, GC-IDMS, LC-IDMS) by mass spectrometry. In 2005-2007, he worked in the project entitled “Development of Test Kits for Biochemical Tests with GC, LC/MS and ICP/MS” and the ongoing Project “Development and Application of National Fuel Marker”. He was involved in analytical method development and method validation for determination of organic compounds in food and environmental samples. He took part in the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) project and intercomparisons. He has 15 publications in international scientific journals.
Hasibe YILMAZ
Hasibe Yılmaz graduated from Atatürk University, Kazım Karabekir Faculty of Education, Department of Chemistry Education in 2006. She has been working as a researcher in TÜBİTAK UME, Chemistry Group Laboratories, Organic Chemistry Laboratory since 2007. Her major areas are gas chromatography (GC-MS, GC-IDMS, GC-FID) analysis for the essential oils, fatty acids; the purity assessment of organic materials; Karl Fischer moisture determination; TGA analysis, HPLC measurements. She has worked in national and international projects including “National Fuel Marker Project” and “EMRP, Metrology for Biofuels”, international comparisons and production & certification of reference materials as a researcher. She has two published international papers in the field of organic chemistry.
Dr. İlker ÜN
Ilker Ün received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Kocaeli University in 2002, M.S degree from Gebze Institute of Technology, Inorganic Chemistry in 2005 and his Ph. D. degree Gebze Institute of Technology, Inorganic Chemistry in 2012. He worked at Gebze Institute of Technology as a research assistant (2005-2009) and as a specialist (2009-2012). In October 2012, he started working at TÜBİTAK UME as a senior researcher in National Marker Project. His main research interests are Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, QNMR calculations and small molecule synthesis. He worked in different fields of national and international (EMRP) projects and at TÜBİTAK UME industrial test services. He has been working in the first certified reference material production and certification projects as a researcher. He has scientific publications in international journals.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet S. EROĞLU
Mehmet S. Eroğlu is professor at Marmara University, Department of Chemical Engineering. He was graduated from Hacettepe University in 1985 and obtained a research assistant position in the same year at TÜBİTAK-SAGE. He obtained his MSc degree in chemical engineering from Gazi University in 1988. The subject of his master thesis was “Liner application on solid propellant rocket motors”. He obtained his PhD degree in physical chemistry from Hacettepe University in 1995. The title of his thesis was “sythesis and cross-linking of glycidyl azide polymer as propellant binder”. After the PhD studies, he synthesized and characterized different copolymers of glycidyl azide polymer. He completed a NATO postdoctoral fellowship at University of Connecticut with professor Jeffrey T. Koberstein in the subject of “surface reorganization and smart biomimmetic polymeric surfaces”. His research interests include smart drug carrying systems, environmentally friendly polymeric blends as packaging materials and nano-composites.
Muhiddin ÇERGEL
Muhiddin ÇERGEL has graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Science Physics Engineering Department at 1984. After some private commercial in 1989 as a researcher in began work on chemistry department of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center.Between the years 1989-2001 he was worked in Test and Analysis Definiton Group at NMR Lab.
Between July 2001-April 2012 he worked on IRMS and GC-MS equipments with solid,liquid and gaseous samples as a senior researcher in the scope of light stable isotopes measurements.
In April 2012, he has started working at TUBITAK UME as a senior researcher occupied within NMR Lab in the group of Organic Chemistry. He has taken work in the first certified reference material production and certification projects as researcher and continue to work.
Muzaffer KESKİNEL
Muzaffer Keskinel obtained his Bachelor of Science from Chemistry Department of Engineering Faculty, Hacettepe University in 1995. He recieved his Master of Science degree from Chemistry Department of Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, Kocaeli University.
He has been working as a Researcher in Chemistry Group Laboratories in an industrial project of “Development and continuous enhancement of National Marker System for Fuels” since 2007.
Murat COŞAR
Murat Coşar completed his high school at the Lafarge Aslan Cimento Industrial Vocational High School in electronic departmnet in 2001. He was graduated from Akdeniz University, Communication Department in 2004. After completing his education, he worked as a supervisor in Mobisis İletişim San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. and Hobitel Telekominikasyon San. and Tic. Ltd. Then, he worked at Telekom San. and Tic. Ltd. Company. Afterwards, he took a position at Feba Electronic in the maintenence group. Since 2006, he has been working at TÜBİTAK UME, Chemistry Department.
Nihal KALKAN
Nihal Kalkan graduated from Kocaeli Üniversity, Vocational High School, Chemistry Technology, Department in 2005. In 2006, she joined TÜBİTAK UME, Chemistry Laboratory as a senior technician. She was involved in “Development and continuous enhancement of National Marker System for Fuels” Project. Currently, she has been working as a national marker site audit, statistician and formal correspondence.
Nihal ZORLU
Nihal Zorlu completed her high school at Inonu Anadolu Vocational High School, Chemistry Department in 2008. He obtained her associate B.Sc degree from Balıkesir University, Altınoluk Vocational High school, Chemical Technology in 2010. Between 2009-2010, he worked as a student assistant at Balikesir University, Vocational School in Edremit. She completed her probation at Biotek Tıbbi Tahlil in 2007 and TÜBİTAK UME in July-August 2010. She has been working as a technician at TÜBİTAK- UME, Organic Chemistry Laboratory since 2010. Her main interests are TLC, Column Chromatography, sample preparation, florescence, polarimeter and UV measurements.
Recep ÇAPKIN
Recep Çapkın completed his high school at the Can Gülmen Industry Vocational College, Electrical Department in 2000. He obtained his associate B.Sc degree at Mugla University, Electrical Department in 2003. Then, he worked as a Machine Operator at Assan Alüminyum (2005-2006). He worked as a Sales Executive in a private company (2006-2007). Since 2007, he has been working at TÜBİTAK UME as a technician and forklift operator.
Seda ŞENGÜL
Seda Şengül completed her associated BSc degree at Kocaeli University, Construction and Industrial Coatings Application Technology Department. In 2006, she joined TÜBİTAK UME, Chemistry Laboratory as a technician. She was involved in the R&D, stability and reference laboratory within the scope of “Development and continuous enhancement of National Marker System for Fuels” Project. Currently, she has been working for the national marker Project as a site audit, and in reference laboratory. In 2009-2011 she worked in the bioanalysis laboratory.
Şahin NAR
Şahin Nar completed his B.Sc degree from Kocaeli University, Chemistry Technology Deparment in 2010. In 2009, he started to work as an assistant operator at Bayer Turk Kimya San. Ltd. He worked at Autoliv Cankor in quality control laboratory in 2010. Between 2011-2012, he worked as a technician in Afghanistan at the NATO United Nations Food Control Laboratory. In 2012, he joined TÜBİTAK UME, Chemistry Department as a technician and since then has been working as a site controller in the Development and Application of National Fuel Marker Project.
Taner GÖKÇEN
Taner Gökçen graduated from Bogazici University, Chemistry Department, Turkey in 2002. He obtained his M.Sc. degree on organic chemistry from Chemistry and Biochemistry Department of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, MA, USA and has been continuing his PhD studies at Istanbul Technical University, Chemistry Department on organic chemistry since 2007. He worked as a research associate in Proses Development Department of Momenta Pharmaceuticals, MA, USA for one year and as researcher in Reference Materials Department of Joint Research Center- Institute of Reference Materials and Measurements (JRC-IRMM), Belgium, under the Project of EMIT (Europe and Metrology in Turkey). He has taken part in projects including Quality System of ISO Guide 34 for TÜBİTAK UME, production of first certified reference materials of Turkey, National Marker System for Fuels, Turkey, EMRP Projects and international comparisons (CCQM) on chemical metrology. He as been working as a research associate at TÜBİTAK UME on method development and validation, purity assessment of organic materials and organic synthesis since 2006. He has experiences on NMR, GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, HPLC and Karl Fischer.
Prof. Dr. Turan ÖZTÜRK
Turan Öztürk received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Middle East Technical and Istanbul Technical Universities, respectively. He completed his PhD degree at the University of East Anglia, England, then, moved to the University of Kent at Canterbury, England, as a postdoctoral fellow, where he developed a new method for the synthesis of fused 1,4-dithiin and thiophene rings from 1,8-diketones using Lawesseon’s reagent and P4S10. He took up a position at TÜBİTAK MRC, then Middle East Technical University, and joined Istanbul Technical University as a full professor. He has previously been a British Council Research Fellow, NATO Research Fellow, Honorary Lecturer at the University of Kent at Canterbury and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Waterloo, Canada. His research interests concentrate on the development of new organic materials having electronic and optical properties.
