Cihan KUZU (Head of Laboratory)

Cihan KUZU, took B.Sc. degree of Middle East Technical University Arth-Science Faculty Physics Department in 1998. He started to his work life at TÜBİTAK UME Force Laboratories as a researcher in the same year. He took M.Sc. Degree of Kocaeli University Engineering Faculty Mechatronics Engineering in 2006. He has been working on design and production of machines, laboratory accreditation in accordance with EN ISO 17025, training and consultancy and calibration in the field of Hardness and Force Metrology. His Phd study is going on at İstanbul Technical University Advanced Tecnologies Section Material Science and Technology Department. He has been representing TÜBİTAK UME in UME CCM WGH (Hardness Working Group) and IMEKO TC5 (Hardness Technical Committee) since 2002. Besides UME Hardness Laboratory’s work, he is running 1 KAMAG 1007 project supported by TÜBİTAK.

 

Semih TUNACI (Deputy Laboratory Manager)

He graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2009. He completed his master's degree in System Dynamics and Control at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Science, Istanbul Technical University in 2012. After working in companies that carried out R&D activities in the defense and automotive sectors in the early years of his career, he started working as a researcher at TÜBİTAK UME Torque Laboratory in 2015. He currently continues his metrological activities focused on the production, protection and distribution of the torque unit in the same laboratory. In addition, he serves as a technical expert in accreditation audits in the torque field at TÜRKAK.

 

Cemal VATAN

In 1994, he has graduated from the Faculty of Science, Department of Physics in Istanbul University (İ.Ü). He has started to work in TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute (NMI) began working as a researcher in 1998. Between 1998 and 2006, nitrogen and helium gas liquefaction, cryogenic materials (liquid nitrogen - helium dewar, liquid helium transfer siphon) maintenance, repair and vacuum was made by him. Since 2006, He has been working in the Force Laboratory of TÜBİTAK UME in filed of the creation of standards and calibration uncertainty calculations and national and international interlaboratory comparisons. He also has involved in training in the field of force metrology.

 

Çetin DOĞAN

He graduated from Graduated from Mechanical Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University in 1992. He has been completed his master degree in 1998, in Mechanical Engineering of Istanbul Technical University. In 1996, He has started working as a researcher in TÜBİTAK UME Force Laboratory and still working in the same lab in the field of torque metrology.

 

Ercan PELİT

Ercan PELİT took the degree of engineering from Yıldız Üniversity Kocaeli Engineering Faculty Mechanical Engineering Department in 1993 and then took the degree of M.Sc. from Kocaeli Üniversity Mechanical Engineering Department. He had worked at the same university as a reserarch assistant between 1993-1997. He has been working at TÜBİTAK UME Force Laboratories (Force, Hardness, Torque) as a researcher since 1999.

 

Dr. Haldun DİZDAR (Principal Research Scientist)

Born on October 3, 1974 in İzmit. Completed his primary, secondary and high school education in İzmit. Successfully graduated from his undergraduate education at Yıldız University Kocaeli Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1996 and became a Mechanical Engineer. In 1998, he received his Master's degree from Kocaeli University, Institute of Science, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Energy Science and became a Mechanical Engineer. During his graduate education, he worked as a research assistant at Kocaeli University, Institute of Science. In September 2000, he started working as a Researcher at TÜBİTAK UME Mechanics Group Mass Laboratory. In 2006, he completed his thesis titled "Investigation of Changes Caused by Convection Effects in Apparent Mass Measurement" at Sakarya University, Institute of Science, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Energy Science and received his Ph.D. in science. Between August 2006 and February 2007, he completed his military service as the 311th short-term private within the 3rd Gendarmerie Border Battalion Command Headquarters Support Company in the Çukurca district of Hakkari province. In 2008, he became an expert researcher at the TÜBİTAK UME Mechanical Group Mass Laboratory. Between 2008 and 2011, he took an active role in the "Establishment of the TÜBİTAK UME Environmental Tests Center" project, which was an infrastructure establishment project carried out with the financing of the Prime Ministry State Planning Organization of the Republic of Türkiye. He was assigned to TÜBİTAK UME Mechanical Group Force Laboratory in October 2013. As of December 2017, he was appointed as the Chief Researcher in the same laboratory. He was the executive of the TÜBİTAK UME Continuous Force Calibration System Establishment (2018-2020) project, and at the end of the project, he provided the laboratory with a new measurement infrastructure. With the approval of the Presidency, he was appointed as Principal Research Scientist in October 2022. He actively took part in all work packages of the EMPIR 18SIB08 coded “Comprehensive Traceability for Force Measurement Services” project between 2019-2023, and at the end of the project, he took part in the guide documents created for dynamic force measurements in the world. Haldun DİZDAR teaches “Mechanical Measurement Principles and Devices” and “Mechanical Materials Testing and Uncertainty Calculation Approaches” courses within the scope of the Metrology Thesis Master's Program of the Physics Department of Gebze Technical University Graduate Education Institute in line with the knowledge transfer policy of the TÜBİTAK senior management to the industry and universities. In addition, he has been in the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) auditor pool since 2011. He served as a technical expert in the accreditation audit of many calibration laboratories according to the ISO 17025 standard. He is the author of many articles, papers and technical reports in international and national peer- reviewed journals, national and international congresses and conferences.
