Metrology Training for SMIIC Metrology Committee Member Countries

TÜBİTAK UME organized and hosted a metrology training session aimed at members of the Metrology Committee of the  Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC MC).

The training was conducted on the dates of February 22-26, 2016 as the second training session undertaken in accordance with the SMIIC MC Action Plan. The first training session was hosted by ANM of Tunisia in 2015. 

A total of 32 participants from Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Iran, Cameroon, Niger, Senegal, and Sierra Leone participated in the training session that encompassed the subject areas of General Dimensional Metrology, General Electrical Metrology, General Pressure Metrology, Calibration of Pressure Gauges with Digital Indicators and the Metrology of Piston Gauge Pressure Standards. The training session financially supported by the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).

The training programme aims to develop the laboratory skills of SMIIC MC member institutions and will continue with a third training session to be hosted by IMBiH of Bosnia-Herzegovina in the months ahead. 

SMIIC, founded in 2010 within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), aims to facilitate the elimination of technical barriers to trade among member countries through cooperative initiatives to harmonize and develop their national quality infrastructures.
