The World Metrology Day Poster, declared annually to the entire world by the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), and used by national metrology organizations after translating into their own languages, bears the signature of TÜBİTAK UME this year in collaboration with the European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET).
The 2024 World Metrology Day poster, themed around sustainability, was designed by TÜBİTAK UME Corporate Communications Officer Uğur AKKAYA .
Uğur AKKAYA, who previously designed the poster in 2013, contributed to the World Metrology Day activities once again, marking TÜBİTAK UME's second successful collaboration in this regard.
This successful partnership and design carry significant prestige for TÜBİTAK UME in showcasing its position on international platforms in the field of metrology.
Since the signing of the Meter Convention in Paris on May 20, 1875, which led to the recognition of metrology as a scientific discipline, World Metrology Day has been celebrated worldwide with various events on May 20 every year. This year, the aim is to highlight the contributions of metrology towards establishing a sustainable global economy and environment.
It's noteworthy that UNESCO officially recognizes May 20 as UNESCO International Day, creating new encouraging opportunities in the field of metrology.
