CIPM MRA webinar was held on September 23, 2022 within the scope of the 5th Cycle of 2022 of the "BIPM - TÜBİTAK UME Project Placements" program, implemented in cooperation with TÜBİTAK UME and BIPM (International Bureau of Weights and Measures).
The main agenda of the webinar held with the participation of BIPM Officials, Andy Henson (Director of BIPM International Relations and Communications Department) and Chingis Kuanbayev (International Relations Officer), was CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement (CIPM MRA), which provides an institutional framework for the international metrology system and international metrology institutes to recognize the equivalence of each other's national reference standards and calibration certificates.
The participants completed the CIPM MRA online training modules on the BIPM website before the webinar. Each participant made a presentation about the projects they are performing in TUBITAK UME laboratories within the scope of BIPM-TUBITAK UME Project Placements.
There are 83 applications from 30 different countries which is the highest number of all 5 cycles and 10 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Ethiopia, Guyana, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Philippines, Tanzania and Uzbekistan were accepted to the program as a result of the evaluation made in the 5th cycle of Project Placements, which has been carried out in cooperation with BIPM and TÜBİTAK UME since 2018.
Program started on September 5, 2022 with 10 participants having training in their research fields by TÜBİTAK UME experts for 1 to 3 months, and the training and accommodation expenses of the researchers are covered by TÜBİTAK UME.
The success of this training program, which has made an extraordinary contribution to the integration of developing country institutes into the international metrology system and carried out jointly with BIPM for 5 years, carries an important prestige value in terms of reinforcing TÜBİTAK UME's place in the "champions league" category of the metrology world.
