TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute (TÜBİTAK UME) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ) in order to develop scientific metrological cooperation between the two countries.
Mustafa ÇETİNTAŞ, Director of TÜBİTAK UME and António Mira dos SANTOS, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IPQ signed the Memorandum of Understanding at the Turkey-Portugal Mutual Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) 3rd session meeting held at the Portugal Foreign Ministry on March 8, 2018 in which Nihat Zeybekçi, the Minister of Economy also participated.
Below mentioned points are stated within the framework of memorandum.
- Strengthening relations between two institutes in the field of metrology,
- Exchange of viewpoints, technical information and documentation concerning International and European metrology activities,
- Coordination on the training of technical staff,
- Increasing the technical capabilities of experts through visits
In addition to metrology, increasing the trade volume between the two countries and support of Portuguese government for Turkey’s EU membership were also in the agenda of the meeting.
The number of Memorandum of Understanding signed with counterparts abroad has increased to 37 with this agreement.
