Based on the successful performance of TÜBİTAK UME in the previous EU funded metrology research programs carried out in previous years, Türkiye stated its national contribution commitment to the European Commission as 18 million Euro. The success has been continued by involvement in 14 projects at the end of the 2-stage 2022 Call process within the scope of EPM.
The new program, titled European Partnership on Metrology, officially entered into force in 2022 under the Horizon Europe Framework Program. The program started in overlap with the last phase of the EU funded European Metrology and Innovation Research Program (EMPIR), which has been ongoing since 2014.
Continuing to contribute to the metrology ecosystem in our country, TÜBİTAK UME also clinched its leading position in the European metrology system with a participation in a total of 12 projects. The distribution of these projects by Call subjects are 3 in health, 5 in Integrated European Metrology, 1 in Normative and 3 in Research Potential Field. The project titled "Traceability for Brinell-Vickers-Knoop Hardness Trace Measurements", presented in the field of Research Potential under the coordination of TÜBİTAK UME. The project proposal has received the highest score in its field during the evaluation made by independent referees at the review conference.
TÜBİTAK UME as a project partner in many different disciplines such as Bioanalysis, Medical Metrology, Thermodynamics, Optics, Temperature, Acoustics, Pressure, Time and Frequency, Length, Force, RF and Microwave, Electromagnetic, has once again proven its competence in every field of metrology in Europe.
While Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty and TÜBİTAK MAM Medical Biotechnology Research Group are involved as project partners in the projects in which TÜBİTAK UME is involved, Türkiye Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Institute Nuclear Energy Research Institute (TENMAK NÜKEN) has succeeded to take part in 2 joint research projects under Normative Call.
After the negotiations of the project contracts, all announced projects are planned to be officially start in the period of May-June 2023.
As a result of TÜBİTAK UME's success in European Union projects by increasing the number of projects included in each call within the scope of the newly enacted program, it has increased the national contribution rate by 50% compared to the previous program, the European Metrology Program for Innovation and Research (EMPIR). This has a great prestige value in the metrology world.
