Dr. Beste KORUTLU (Head of Laboratory)

Was born in Eskişehir, Turkey in 1982. She received her M.S. degree in physics from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey in 2007 and her Ph.D. degree in physics from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada in 2012.

From 2006 to 2009 she worked as an expert in Mathematics and Computer Science Department of Çankaya University, Ankara, Turkey. From 2009 to 2012 she worked as a Research Assistant in Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.  From 2013 to 2015 she was Postdoctoral Fellow in İzmir Institute of Technology, İzmir, Turkey. Since 2015 she has been working in TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute (UME), Kocaeli, Turkey. She is the heas of Mass Laboratory and deputy head of Electrodynamics Laboratory.

Her research interests include high energy physics focusing mainly on phenomenology beyond the Standard Model, plasma physics, mass metrology and quantum metrology. She is the author of over 30 scientific papers and proceedings published in international peer-reviewed journals and national and international conferences. She has taken part in natioanally and internationally funded research projects both as  researcher and project coordinator.

Dr. Özlem PEHLİVAN YILDIRIM

Özlem Pehlivan graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Arts & Sciences Faculty, Physics Department in 1998. She received her M.Sc. degree in 2001 and PhD. degree in 2013 from the same department.  For her master’s thesis, she studied the “Characterization of Vacuum Deposited Indium Selenide Thin Films and Schottky Barrier Diodes”. Her PhD. thesis was on the subject of “Growth and Morphological Characterization of Intrinsic Hydrogenerated Amorphous Silicon Thin Films for a-Si:H/c-Si Heterojunction solar Cells”.

She worked as a research assistant in Atılım University, Engineering Faculty, Physics Group during the years 1998-2002.

She has worked in TÜBİTAK UME Temperature Laboratory, Radiation Temperature Department between 2002 and 2020, and she has worked in TÜBİTAK UME Thermodynamics Metrology Laboratory, Radiation Temperature department between 2020 and 2022.

Within the scope of establishing the Radiation Temperature scale in accordance with the ITS-90 International Temperature Scale, she took part in the reference level of all measurements like fixed point measurements and uncertainty calculations.

Her research areas include measurements required to realise and disseminate the ITS-90 Radiation Thermometry Scale, radiation thermometry measurements, calibration of radiation thermometers, uncertainty calculations, temperature calibration of thermal cameras, blackbody and IR calibrator calibrations, construction of high temperature eutectic fixed points and construction of fixed-points measurements. She participated in international comparisons for establishing the traceability of TÜBİTAK UME Radiation Thermometry Laboratory. She took charge in the teaching of training courses and provision of consulting services.

Since May 2022, she has started to work in TÜBİTAK UME Mass Laboratory. She will take part in the realization of all measurements within the scope of the Mass Laboratory.

Lenara KANGI

Lenara Kangı graduated from the Mechanics Department of Moscow State University’s Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in 1986 and received her master’s degree from the Mechanics Department of Moscow State University’s Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics.

She began working as a Research Scientist in the TÜBİTAK UME Mass Laboratory in 1998.
