SEA-EU-NET 1 - Facilitating the Bi-Regional EU-ASEAN Science and Technology Dialogue

SEA-EU-NET 1, aiming to integrate and strengthen the EU-ASEAN Science and Technology Dialogue through coordination and supporting actions, was completed in 2008-2012. The work has been carried out to increase the quality, quantity, profile and impact of bi-regional Science and Technology (S&T) cooperation between the ten member countries of the Association of South-east Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Member- and Associated States of the European Union (EU) by a Project consortium consisting of 22 high level organisations with a budget of 4 million Euros.

UME was the task leader (T2.6) in this project where an Inventory of EU and SEA Policies on Standardisation (Scientific, industrial, legal metrology, organisations in metrology and standardisation) were carried out.  A report prepared in terms of scientific, industrial, and legal metrology was submitted to European Commission and various workshops on metrology research were carried out representing EURAMET and EUROPE. UME has closely collaborated with the National Metrology Institute of Malaysia and Malaysian Ministry of Science and Technology (MOSTI) during the project as well as European Commission authorities. After the success of these initiatives, UME was invited to join second project SEA-EU-NET 2 which will be alive in 2013-2016. Please see the website of www.sea-eu.net for further information.
