Dr. Murat KALEMCİ (Head of Laboratory)

Murat Kalemci graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics in 1996. He received his M.Sc. degree from the same department in 1996. He completed his PhD degree at the Physics Department of Yeditepe University’s Institute of Science. The subject of his Ph.D thesis was the construction and characterization of triple point of mercury.  

Ha has been working in the TUBITAK UME Temperature Laboratories since 1998.

 His research areas include almost all areas of contact temperature measurements. Primary and secondary level temperature calibrations including resistance thermometers, thermocouples, digital thermometers etc., fixed-point realizations, construction of reference fixed point cells and reference thermocouples are main technical fields of his studies. He has provided training and consultant services both on the national and international levels. He has participated in several international comparisons for establishing the traceability of TUBITAK UME Temperature Laboratory. He has been the head of Temperature Laboratory since 2011 and a member of EURAMET Technical Committee for Thermometry and working groups on “Best Practices” and “Strategy”. He is also the representative of TUBITAK UME on the BIPM Committee Consultative for Thermometry (CCT) and working groups on “fixed-points”, “uncertainties” and “secondary level temperature measurements”. He is also a technical assessor for Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK). 

 

Dr. Özlem PEHLİVAN

Özlem Pehlivan graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Arts & Sciences Faculty, Physics Department in 1998. She received her M.Sc. degree in 2001 and PhD. degree in 2013 from the same department.  For her master’s thesis, she studied the “Characterization of Vacuum Deposited Indium Selenide Thin Films and Schottky Barrier Diodes”. Her PhD. Thesis was on the subject of “Growth and Morphological Characterization of Intrinsic Hydrogenerated Amorphous Silicon Thin Films for a-Si:H/c-Si Heterojunction solar Cells”.

She worked as a research assistant in Atılım University, Engineering Faculty, Physics Group in the years 1998-2002. During that period, she was worked on the establishment of a physics laboratory  and was responsible for the physics experiments. She has been working in the TUBITAK UME Radiation Thermometry Laboratory since 2002. Her research areas include measurements required to realise and disseminate the ITS-90 Radiation Thermometry Scale, radiation thermometry measurements, spectral responsivity measurements, radiation thermometer non-linearity measurements, size of source effect measurements, fixed-point measurements, calibration of radiation thermometers, uncertainty calculations, temperature calibration of thermal cameras, blackbody and IR calibrator calibrations, construction of high temperature eutectic fixed points and construction of fixed-points measurements. She has participated in international comparisons for establishing the traceability of TUBITAK UME Radiation Thermometry Laboratory. She participates in the teaching of training courses and provision of consulting services.

 

Seda OĞUZ AYTEKİN

Seda Oğuz Aytekin graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Arts & Sciences, Physics Department in 1992. She received her M.Sc. degree in Nuclear Physics from Gazi University’s Faculty of Science. Her PhD study is ongoing at Yeditepe University, Faculty of Engineering and Sciences, Physics Department with the thesis title of "Fabrication of Porous Silicon Humidity Sensor and Their Electrical and Spectroscopic Characterization".

She began work in the Radiation Temperature Laboratory of TUBITAK UME in 1995. She has worked on primary and secondary level measurements of the radiation temperature together with the establishment and maintenance of the systems and the ITS-90 radiation temperature scale. She has been involved in calibration, testing and education services given to industry and in international comparisons on radiation temperature. She has been working on the construction of triple point of water (TPW) cells and the calibration of thermometers and thermocouples in the Contact Thermometry Laboratory.  She is working on the system setup for construction of temperature fixed point cells which are used in primary level temperature measurements.

She has been working in the Humidity Laboratory since 1999. She is responsible for the calibration and test measurements provided to national and international level on humidity field. She provides training and consultancy services on the laboratory accreditation scopes according to industry needs in the field of temperature and humidity measurements and uncertainty evaluations. She has prepared calibration and measurement capability declarations (CMCs) for the BIPM Key Comparison Database (KCDB) according to EURAMET guidelines. She has prepared and also participated in national and international comparisons on humidity field. She has served as a technical assessor in the fields of temperature and humidity on behalf of the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) since 2012.

She has been working on the EMRP Project entitled “Metrology for Moisture in Materials” (METefnet) since 2012.

 

Narcisa ARİFOVİÇ

Narcisa ARİFOVİC graduated from the Physics Department of the Faculty of Arts & Science at Çukurova  University in 1997. She completed her M.Sc. education in Physics at the Gebze Institute of Technology (GYTE) with the thesis title “Research of the effect of the annealing temperature on the impurity and homogeneity of the Platinum-Palladium Thermocouples and proposal of reference function”.

She began work in the Contact Temperature Laboratory of TUBITAK UME in 1997. She has worked on primary and secondary level measurements of contact temperature together with the establishment and maintenance of the systems and the ITS-90 temperature scale.

She has been involved in primary and secondary level of characterization and calibration of the standard and industrial platinum resistance thermometers, reference thermocouples (R,S, platinum-palladium and gold - platinum thermocouples) as well as industrial grade base metal thermocouples (types K,J,T,E,N), various kinds of thermometers (digital thermometers, liquid-in-glass thermometers and thermistors) as well as various temperature sources (liquid baths, chambers, autoclaves, dry-wells and furnaces). She has provided training and consulting services in her fields of expertise. She has worked on the evaluation of the measurement uncertainties for the calibrations performed by the Temperature Group Laboratory in the field of contact temperature and has prepared the declarations of calibration and measurement capabilities (CMCs) of the Temperature Laboratory published in the BIPM Key Comparison Database (KCDB).

Preparation of the laboratory documentation and assessment according to TS/EN ISO 17025 standard, implementation of the Quality Management System of TÜBİTAK UME and participating in the internal assessment of TÜBITAK UME Laboratories have been among her other responsibilities.

 

Agah BAĞÇE

Agah Bağçe graduated from the Physics Engineering Department of İstanbul Technical University’s Faculty Arts and Science in 1990.  He completed his M.Sc. education in the Physics Engineering Department of İstanbul Technical University’s Institute Natural and Applied Science.

He started to work at TÜBİTAK UME Temperature Laboratory as a researcher in 1998.  He worked on the subject of primary and secondary level temperature calibrations. He is in charge of calibration provided to industry, test services and temperature comparisons.

Since 2012, he has been carrying out the construction of the reference fixed point cells of the ITS-90 and involvied in the realization of the ITS – 90 scale at TUBITAK UME
