TÜBİTAK UME Hosts GULFMET General Assembly and Technical Committee Meetings

The General Assembly and Technical Committee Meetings of the Gulf Association for Metrology (GULFMET) were held in Istanbul on 23-26 April 2018, hosted by TÜBİTAK UME.

Representatives from GULFMET member countries, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrein, Kuwait and Oman were preseent at the General Assembly and Technical Committee Meetings which were hosted by TUBİTAK UME for the first time.

Mass and Related Quantities, Length, Temperature, Electricity and Magnetism, Time and Frequency, Photometry and Radiometry, Chemical Metrology and Quality Technical Committee meetings were held as part of the program to discuss developments within these areas in GULFMET member institutes and cooperative activities.

International comparisons, CMC (Measurement and Calibration Capacity) declarations and reviews, meetings of scientific R&D activities and collaborations were discussed at the meetings. A workshop was also held on the CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement and the approach to quality documentation and GULFMET CMC and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.

In the General Assemby, main subjects of interest were GULFMET's ongoing effort to gain recognition of the Joint Committee on Regional Metrology Organizations and the BIPM (JCRB) were discussed, reports on the activities of GULFMET member countries and reports from the technical committee meetings. On the last day of the meetings, TÜBİTAK UME laboratories were visited by the participants.
