Infrastructure

The laboratory has primary level calibration systems for RF power sensor calibrations and calibrations of calculable impedance standards;

  • Microcalorimeter system which is able to measure effective efficiency of the thermistor mounts with N type connector and WR220 connector in the frequency range of 100 kHz - 18 GHz and 18 GHz - 26.5 GHz respectively.
  • Mechanical measurement system traceable from dimensional measurements of calculable impedance standards in the frequency range of 100 MHz - 50 GHz.

RF and Microwave Laboratory has the capability to measure the calibration factor value within the metrological traceability chain of thermistor mounts or power sensors with N type (100 kHz - 18 GHz), 3.5 mm (100 kHz - 26.5 GHz), 2.92 mm (50 MHz - 40 GHz) and 2.4 mm (50 MHz - 50 GHz) connectors.

Within the scope of power measurements, the power accuracy, linearity and flatness measurements of RF signal sources can be performed within the metrological traceability chain between 100 kHz - 50 GHz frequency range and -70 dBm to + 20 dBm power range in RF and Microwave laboratory.

The measurements of the transmission and reflection coefficients from the scattering-parameters used to characterize a microwave circuit element can be performed within the metrological traceability chain for N-type, 3.5 mm, 2.92 mm and 2.4 mm connector types in the frequency range of 100 kHz - 50 GHz.

Laboratory has the capability of material characterization (permittivity and permeability) measurements up to 50 GHz, calibration of RF noise sources up to 50 GHz and RF power measurement up to 1.1 THz. In addition, the laboratory can perform S parameter measurements with coaxial connectors up to 110 GHz, with waveguide systems for the frequency range of 110 GHz - 170 GHz.

The basic measurement quantities, measurement conditions and expanded uncertainty values of the measurements included in the metrological traceability chain carried out in the laboratory are given in the table below.
