Metrology for Moisture in Materials (METefnet)

This JRP aims not only establishing and disseminating SI traceability to measurements of moisture in solids but also a coherent and developed moisture metrology infrastructure in Europe. This will be achieved by:

  • Developing unambiguous realisation methods, new primary standards, new/adapted CRMs and novel transfer standard instruments
  • Improving the coulometric Karl Fischer titration based realisation
  • Developing methods for quantifying and reducing the effect of moisture change during transporting and handling
  • Developing a novel calibration facility for surface moisture meters
  • Developing modelling for uncertainty estimations, and analysis tools

 

UME contributes to this project is given below;

 

  • Determination of unceratinty components for gravimetric SI moisture unit realisation and prepare a journal or conference paper on uncertainty estimation tools
  • Design and tests of a calibration system for sensors measuring surface moisture in plastic/paper elements,
  • Report on uncertainty evaluations for moisture measurements in paper.
  • New/improved calibration, sampling and measurement services in moisture metrology.
